David Appleton is a Senior Analyst at Argus, specialising in LPG. He is responsible for delivery of the global and European LPG statistical reviews that Argus publishes in partnership with WLPGA and AEGPL each year, as well as leading other LPG projects.

Prior to joining Argus, David spent six years at the European LPG Association, where in his role as public affairs manager, he promoted and defended the interests of the downstream European LPG sector in the Brussels energy policy sphere. David holds a BscEcon in European Studies and a Masters in International Development.

Lillian Alexandru, Rompetrol GasLilian Alexandru, General Manager, Rompetrol Gas

Lilian Alexandru joined Romania’s Rompetrol Gas, part of Kazakhstan’s state-controlled Kazmunaigaz (KMG), in 2007. He has held a number of different positions in internal and export sales, as well as imports. Lilian is directly involved in commercial activity in the Balkan region LPG sector, and has accumulated vast experience in LPG trade in the region. Before entering the LPG business, Lilian worked in the commercial and export departments of various companies in the electrotechnical and chemicals industries.

Nick Black is Vice-President, LPG Naphtha and Petrochemicals. Nick has 30 years’ experience in the oil industry and 21 years at Argus. He has an MA degree from Oxford University and speaks at LPG functions across the globe.

Rebecca Ball began her career with the Cavagna Group based in the UK in 2.5 years ago within Greengear Global, a company in the Cavagna Group that specifically deals with the manufacturing, marketing and promotion of LPG Greengear-branded products and ENERKIT technologies.

Upon graduating University, Rebecca started her career in Project Management for Bombardier Transportation, the world’s leading manufacturer for both planes and trains. Working on global projects such as Stockholm, Riyadh and the London Underground.

In 2015 Rebecca decided to change career focusing on the startup LPG equipment project for Cavagna : Greengear Global. Concentrating on all parts of the startup of the business – from the first production, to marketing, to sales on a global level, with the intention of increasing the perception and usage of LPG overall.

Rebecca holds a joint honours degree in Marketing, Business Psychology and Human Resources. She has recently transitioned with the company and resides in  Brescia in Italy.

Diogo Barros started his career with Portuguese oil company Galp in 1999. He worked in various positions in refining and wholesale fuels distribution, before being appointed Managing Director of Galp operations in two African countries between 2012 and 2016, gaining significant experience in starting up LPG operations. Diogo moved to Portugal in 2016 to lead Galp’s LPG Bulk Business, which includes the management of Autogas Retail Outlets and LPG appliances, under the Galp brand. Diogo has a degree in electrical engineering (automation and control systems) from Porto University and an MBA with a specialisation in finance from Porto Business School.

Ernst Brandstaetter started his career with SHV in 1979. He worked in various positions with Primagaz Austria, before taking the post of Chief Financial Officer in 1981. He was Managing Director of Primagaz Central Europe between 2002 and 2008. Ernst then moved to Paris to assume his current role as General Manager of SHV Gas Supply and Risk Management with offices in Paris, Vienna and Singapore.

Joe Duffy joined Argus DeWitt in 2009 as vice-president ethylene, polymers and derivatives for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He previously worked for ICI, Huntsman and Saudi company Sabic, where he was responsible for the business management of Sabic’s olefins business in Europe. At Argus DeWitt, Joe has worked on a number of consultancy projects covering the structure of the European olefins markets, investment opportunities in the Middle East and the potential for ethane imports to Europe.

Joe is also responsible for the provision of regular client services for ethylene and polymers along with the monthly olefins outlook forecast. Joe has a BSc (Hons) and a PhD from the University of Glasgow.

Guray Isikguner is import manager at OMV Petrol Ofisi, the second-largest private-sector oil company in Turkey. It has 2,200 filling stations, one lubricants plant, 11 fuel and three LPG terminals, 19 aviation units and about 1.3mn m³ of storage capacity in the country.

José Manuel has over 14 years of expertise in the oil business, starting his career as a Process Engineer at Spanish oil company Repsol’s cracker in Puertollano. He spent seven years at the site, before moving to the firm’s trading business. José Manuel has been Repsol’s Global LPG Book Leader since 2015. He holds a master’s in chemical engineering from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a postgraduate degree in business administration from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. José Manuel is certified as an Energy Risk Professional by the Global Association of Risk Professionals

Alexey Markov is Sales and Marketing Director of Hydrocarbons in Sibur’s headquarters in Moscow. He joined Sibur in 2011 as an LPG Trader in the company’s trading office in Vienna where he eventually led all hydrocarbons sales, including LPG, pentanes and naphtha international sales. Prior to joining Sibur, Alexey spent six years in London working for BP Oil International. Before coming to London he was Head of Export Operations at TNK-BP, a joint venture between Russian vertically integrated oil company TNK and BP. Alexey has worked in the oil and gas industry, including physical trading, operations and derivatives, for more than 17 years.

Kristen is a Senior Manager in the London office, providing analysis and developing strategy for energy clients. She has developed extensive experience in LPG markets through her work at Argus, including an assessment of future trade flows, pricing and storage requirements for a European distributor and an analysis of the potential to import propane from the US into Egypt with a focus on security of supply and potential customers. 

Prior to Argus, Kristen was a Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, developing market assessments and recommending and implementing revenue growth projects. Kristen has an MBA from London Business School and an MA in Economics & China Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Mélodie has a background in process engineering, with a master’s in economics and energy from France’s IFP School. She has worked as an Oil Market Analyst for investment bank Société Générale in New York, and as an oil and natural gas Strategy Consultant. Mélodie joined multinational GTT as the head of market analysis for the firm’s strategy and marketing department. She is now responsible for the business development of the company’s LPG segment.

Cecile has been AEGPL and WLPGA Autogas Manager since January 2016. She is responsible for the global promotion of LPG as a transport fuel. Prior to joining the LPG sector, she worked at a public affairs consultancy in Brussels, running advocacy and communications campaigns on issues linked to EU environmental, climate and energy policy. Cecile holds a postgraduate degree from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and a master’s in political science in France [WHERE FROM?}. A native French speaker, Cecile is fluent in English and speaks some Spanish and Italian.

Francis has extensive experience of oil and energy forecasting and consulting and over the years has worked for a number of the leading consulting companies, including Petroleum Economics, EMC - Energy Market Consultants, KBC Advanced Technology, WoodMackenzie and Icis.

During his career he has worked extensively in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil industry, covering the full value chain from crude production through to refining and developing forecasts and forward looking analysis of market fundamentals, prices and margins. He has also worked in natural gas forecasting as well as coal and power.

From his early days as a researcher, Francis has performed a wide range of analytical functions to become a lead consultant and manager, working on numerous single-client project assignments, making regular presentations to retainer clients, supervising preparation of regular market outlook reports on the crude oil, refined products and gas markets and speaking at conferences.

Emma Reiss has worked at Argus for 20 years with editorial responsibility across products, crude and LPG. She recently became a Senior Editor with responsibility for LPG and petrochemicals. Before Argus Emma worked at the Treasury and Cabinet Office, Enterprise Oil and ICIS-LOR. Emma has an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Leeds University and an MSc in research from City University.

Rob Shuttleworth is Chief Executive of industry association UKLPG. Rob was appointed in 2006 and oversaw the merger of the former LP Gas Association with ALGED to form UKLPG in 2007. Rob joined UKLPG from ConocoPhillips, where he was responsible for the firm’s LPG business. His oil company experience includes brand development, store development, sales promotion and forecourt retail operations.  Rob has a background in public transport management, and continues to take a keen interest in transport policy as well as developments in energy policy. He has a degree in geography from the University of Aberdeen.

Borut has worked at Slovenian energy firm Petrol d.d. since 1997 in various capacities, including oil products trading in 1997-2000 and the LPG business since 2001. He is currently head of the LPG department, and is responsible for developing the firm’s LPG business in Slovenia — including autogas, cylinders and bulk supply — as well as in southeast Europe, where Petrol is expanding its presence. He was president of the Slovenian LPG Association in 2010-14.

Nicola Williams is a Director of Clarksons Platou, the world’s largest shipping services provider.

Since joining the gas division in 1999, she has been responsible for analysis of market fundamentals and freight across the gas carrier fleet, LPG, ammonia and petrochemical gas markets. Responsibilities include preparing performance and benchmarking reviews, business development, market analysis, consultancy and logistics strategy evaluation. She speaks regularly at international LPG, ammonia and petrochemical conferences and workshops and is a guest lecturer for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and Regent’s University, London.

After completing a postgraduate degree in politics and economics of developing economies at Cambridge University, she joined Clarksons in 1995, where she worked as a tanker analyst in Clarkson Research.

Nikos joined WLPGA as Technical Director in September 2011. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. His main professional background has been in technical, operations and HSE positions at Shell, the majority being international roles with Shell Gas (LPG) and Shell Global Lubricants. The range of his international roles at Shell has given him a good mix of competences and experience. Nikos also spent some years developing and managing the network of Shell Select outlets in Greece, mostly involving food retailing, and in roles as a Communications Manager. At Shell Lubricants he held the roles of Global Strategy/Planning Manager, Global Communications Manager, Global Assurance/Audit Manager and Global Performance Manager in HSSE. Nikos has also worked at ABB in Switzerland and in Greece. He has French/Greek dual nationality, lives in Paris and speaks English, French, German and Greek.
